Welcome to the virtual site of the CEEX ECHISERV project!
The project aims at analyzing the disparities in the access to and the use of public healthcare services in the North-West development region of Romania, looking at the institutional setting of services and inequalities generated by socio-economic status, gender, ethnicity, and area of residence. The degree of solidarity within the health insurance system is evaluated by revealing the patterns, mechanisms and socio-economic determinants of at the regional and intra-regional levels.

In response to the complexity of the research topic, we opted for an interdisciplinary research team composed of sociologists, physicians, social policy and public health experts, and a combination of quantitative (sociological survey on representative samples) and qualitative methods (interviews and case studies). Read more about the empirical research here.

The project intends to stimulate scientific debate on the functioning of the Romanian healthcare system and to support local initiatives of healthcare service management improvement, especially for vulnerable groups. It also strengthens the regional network of experts, contributing at a better monitoring and a more effective healthcare policy evaluation and advocacy.
